In August, Henry the Hatter, the iconic downtown Detroit store  lost its lease  after being at 1307 Broadway since 1952. It was a story told repeatedly by a sympathetic media.

On Friday, owner Paul Wasserman began a new chapter,  opening his hat store at the new location, 2472 Riopelle in Eastern Market. The spot was previously occupied by 3 Dogs 1 Cat Urban Pet Shoppe, which moved down the street to 2714 Riopelle. k.

The location is a bit off Russell, the main street in Eastern Market, and easily accessible. It helps that the store has a loyal following and Eastern Market continues to grow.

Deadline Detroit stopped by Friday afternoon to chat with Wasserman.
