Holiday Romance: Charming Pairs Pose at Campus Martius Tree; See 8 of Them

December 10, 2017, 9:17 PM by  Alan Stamm

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas

Merrymakers and shoppers have three added reasons to hang out downtown this season -- heated outdoor Holiday Market shelters at Cadillac Square and Capitol Park, plus indoor pop-ups at 1001 Woodward.

Christian Kettenbeil and Shelby Steinhelper, both of Waterford, pose at Campus Martius recently.

They're created by Bedrock and Quicken Loans to "transform urban spaces into vibrant, festive and original shopping destinations" with local entrepreneurs offering artwork, garments, decor accents, baked goods, crafts and other gifts.

Nearby, at Campus Martius alongside the ice rink, a 60-foot Norway spruce from Antioch Township in Wexford County is aglow with 19,000 LED lights and ornaments. The tree, provided by the Downtown Detroit Partnership, beckons as a photo opportunity for families and especially for lovebirds who may say, sing or think: "All I want for Christmas is you."

Heartwarming snaps on Instagram make it easy to imagine couples whispering or thinking:

To face unafraid
The plans that we've made
Walking in a winter wonderland

Yes, we're sappy sentimentalists -- especially this time of year.

If you share that spirit, or want to, check out these smiling pairs 'neath the Christmas tree, and send your photo via Facebook or Twitter so we can enlarge this gallery of smiles and a kiss:
