More often than not, we hear about suburban stores moving to Detroit. Here's an example of the reverse.

After operating in Midtown Detroit nearly four years,The Fresher Brand, a "street chic" clothing store, moved last month from Midtown Detroit to 208 11 Mile Rd. in Royal Oak.

Paris Giles of BLAC Magazine talks with owner Melody Parker:

She specializes in sexy, urban streetwear like cropped hoodies and jumpsuits, most of which feel very pro-female. Some of Parker's most popular pieces – and the ones that garnered her the most attention when she was first starting out – are the T-shirts that have "Such a Fucking Lady" scrawled across the front.

Parker spent nearly four years in Midtown before moving to this spot, which she shares with boyfriend Anthony Temple aka Koolade's brand AYV. "We wanted a good location with a mix of people," says Parker, adding that she hopes to expand to more locations and collaborate with other artists and corporate leaders.

An emphasis on timeless, multifunctional pieces is the focus at The Fresher Brand. Parker says she makes clothes for every aspect of the busy-yet-fashionable woman's life. She says, "She's 'Fresher' because she has style. We don't do trendy things."

The ultimate goal? "To take over the world, one T-shirt at a time."
