Kentucky Derby contender Hansen trained by Madison Heights native

Chances are, Saturday's Kentucky Derby will be the only time you care about horse racing this year. The 2012 Run for Roses could be of extra interest for metro Detroiters as one of the race's contenders, Hansen, is trained by Madison Heights native and Lamphere High School alum Mike Maker. Hansen, currently receiving 10-1 odds, beat Derby favorite Union Rags and Creative Cause in the 2011 Breeder's Cup Juvenile.
