Out-of-Date: Tigers' 2018 Calendar Features Players Who Left in 2017

A 12-month wall calendar shouldn't be inaccurate before Jan. 1, but the Tigers' official one has a shorter shelf life than a cup of Chobani.

Two players no longer on the team are on its cover, alongside and another pair who may not take the field this season.

That No. 17 uniform on utility player Andrew Romine now belongs to rookie catcher Gayson Greiner. Romine joined the Seattle Mariners three months ago.

Tyler Collins, who wore No. 18 in the outfield at Comerica Park from 2014-17, chose free agency last November and signed with the Kansas City Royals two weeks ago. His former number now is worn by new third-baseman Darrell Lugo.

Each of them also is featured inside the calendar, still on sale.

Center fielder JaCoby Jones, who had a rough 2017 season, seems iffy as a starter under new manager Ron Gardenhire. And shortstop Jose Iglesias, at center on the cover, is in his last season before free agency. "He is one of those guys that, quite frankly, probably will not be with us in the long run," general manager Al Avila said in a January radio interview. “We have to make sure that we develop a good shortstop in our system for our future." (Ouch.)

The $17 calendar showcasing has-beens is down to five bucks at Menards
