Update: Barricaded Gunman Dead; 3 Women Dead and 3 Cops Wounded

Update, 2:12 p.m. Monday: A 13-hour ordeal that began Sunday night in Detroit involving a barricaded gunman ended Monday. The gunman died of a self-inflicted wound, and three women were found dead inside the home in the 19400 block of Lamont. Three Detroit Police officers, and a man, were also shot and wounded, James David Dickson and Candice Williams of The Detroit News report.

Lance Smith, 49, was found dead Monday morning. He also killed his girlfriend. The other two women killed were related to her.

The officers were all hit in a leg. One is an off-duty Detroit Public Schools police officer and two work for the Detroit Police Department.

The school employee is related to one of the girlfriend's slain relatives, Police Chief James Craig said.

Two women are dead and a Detroit Police officer was shot and wounded in a barricaded gunman situation that began Sunday night and spilled into Monday morning, Fox 2 reports. A man was also wounded.

The officer was responding to a home in the 19400 block of Lamont and East Outer Drive on the city's east side Sunday around 10:30 p.m. when he was shot, reports Robin Murdoch of the station.

Police surround the home where they believe the suspect is.
