Jared Bobkin, who appeared last year in the cooking competition TV show "Hell's Kitchen" and "Hell's Kitchen All-Stars," is the head chef of a new restaurant in downtown Brighton opening this month, reports Jennifer Eberbach Timar of the Livingston Daily.

The restaurant, Bourbons, will serve southern comfort food with a twist, craft cocktails and high-end bourbons. He describes it as "Southern chic."

"The idea is to create food that is very identifiable to people in a unique manner," Bobkin tells the paper.

"For an example, our fried chicken is actually brined in pickle juice and then buttermilk fried. It's really good. And our short ribs are specialty cut just for me.

"We're also going to do a little bit of barbecue, a little bit of what I called 'dirty south,' where it's hitting all your basics, like fried chicken, your shrimp and grits, grouper, your boiled peanuts. . . . Also, comfort food, like pulled pork, smoked biscuit and baby back ribs," he said.
