Not So Welcome: Detroit's Welcome Center May Close Due to Funding

Thank you, but you may not be welcome much longer at Detroit's Welcome Center at 123 Monroe in downtown.

JC Reindl of the Detroit Free Press reports:

The nonprofit Detroit Experience Factory said Friday that it will soon close its Welcome Center unless the organization can find more charity.

The Welcome Center, 123 Monroe St., which gives paid and free tours of the city, recently lost funding from a foundation and must raise $200,000 before March 30 to avoid closure.

The Hudson-Webber Foundation had funded the center since 2015, but cut its stipend after changing its funding priorities last fall.
