"I Am Evidence," a documentary that exposes the alarming backlog of untested U.S. rape kits, has its Detroit premiere at this year's Freep Film Festival.
The showing will include an appearance by Mariska Hargitay of the NBC show “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," the Detroit Free Press reports. She co-produced the film and is in it.
The film is partly set in Detroit, where more than 11,000 rape kits were found in an abandoned Detroit police facility in 2009.
The screening will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at the Detroit Film Theatre at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Ticket sales start this week.
