President Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen, who finds himself under criminal investigation, stood out from the crowd even during his days at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing.

The 51-year-old Long Island native, who is known as Trump's fixer,  "stood out" as a dedicated student with a likable and colorful personality, former classmate Jerome Abood, now an East Lansing attorney, tells Eric Lacy of the Lansing State Journal.

“I knew he had an interest in real estate and was very motivated to get back home  and get back to work," Abood said.

Abood graduated in May 1991 with Cohen and students who are now judges and county prosecutors. None draw more attention lately than Cohen.

Cohen is the middle of a controversy involving Stormy Daniels, a stripper who claims to have had a fling with Trump in 2006. Cohen paid her $130,000 shortly before the November 2016 election to keep hush about the affair. The FBI last week seized records from his office, residence and hotel room in  April 9 search warrantr raids.
