Where do you begin?
There's a wealth of material when it comes to roasting Denny McLain, who was the last pitcher in the majors to win more than 30 games (31-6). He's had a lot of up and downs in life including a couple visits to prison.
On Thursday, May 10, he'll be roasted at the American Polish Cultural Center in Troy, with proceeds going to the Polish Day Parade, a Labor Day tradition in Hamtramck, reports Brian Louwers of the Warren Weekly.
“The irony is I just got my DNA (test results) back. I’m 49 1/2 percent Polish,” McLain tells the Warren Weekly. “I’ve been the victim of roasts now probably a dozen times. They can be very uncomfortable until you get used to the tempo, and you hope nobody’s meaning what they say."
