Mike Lanier of Troy had the distinction of being Michigan's tallest man and one of the world's tallest twins,according to the Guinness Book of World Records. On Wednesday, he died at age 48, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Lanier was 7 feet 7 inches. He died of complications from pancreatic cancer and acromegaly, a condition where too much growth hormone is produced, according to WDIV.
He was a lifelong Troy resident and played collegiate basketball at UCLA. His brother played at University of Denver.
