8 Pretty Cool Things to Do This Weekend

We are finally out of the deep freeze. Get out there and enjoy the weekend. 

Friday

27th Annual Detroit Music Awards: Artists from varied genres will perform and more than 70 awards in 11 musical categories will be given.  All ages are welcome. Doors open at 6 p.m. Fillmore Detroit, 2115 Woodward Ave. Tickets are $22.50 and can be obtained at the box office or online.

Howie Mandel: The Canadian-born comic, who appears on on NBC's America's Got Talent, performs 8 p.m. at the Motor City Sound Board. Tickets are $57, $47 and $45. 

The Sopranos: Michael Imperioli, Tony Sirico, and Steve Schirripa join for a night of comedy and interviews. The TV show received 21 Emmys and five Golden Globes. 8 p.m. Andiamo Celebrity Showroom, 7096 E. 14 Mile, Warren. Tickets are $25-$75.

Detroit Yacht Club: Strolling dinner, bar, silent auction, entertainment at the club foundation’s sixth annual gala to support clubhouse restoration. 7 p.m. at the Detroit Yacht Club, 1 RIverbank Rd. Tickets: $175.

Friday and Saturday

Good Bones: Multimedia outdoor performance of shadow puppetry and projections that celebrates everyday stories of perseverance and evolution connected by one Detroit building. “Good Bones” honors the human stories made invisible by blight and is a site-specific project based at the historic Sophie Wright Settlement House on Detroit’s eastside. Friday and Saturday 8 p.m. The James and Grace Lee Boggs School, 4141 Mitchell St., Detroit. Free. Info here.

Festival of Laughs: Comedians Sommore, Bruce Bruce, Arnez J and George Wallace. Sommore reigns as the undisputed "Queen of Comedy."  Saturday 7 p.m., Fox Theatre. Tickets.

Rooftop Yoga: Free rooftop workshop courtesy of Center for Yoga at Graduate Ann Arbor, 615 E. Huron St. Bryan Bennett leads an hour of sweating and flowing on the center's terrace patio. 10 a.m. Info.

Cinco Pub Crawl: Beer and margarita specials at Ferndale bars. 1-8 p.m.  9 Mile and Woodward. Tickets: $15-$25
