Brome Modern Eatery, a burger joint which opened its first location on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn in 2015, opens Satuday at 607 Shelby in downtown Detroit.

Founder Sam Abbas tells Susan Selasky of the Detroit Free Press that it's not just another burger restaurant. She reports:

That means an emphasis on grass-fed, non-GMO beef burgers, salads, fresh-made juices and smoothies. Brome's first location opened in Dearborn in 2015, but there have been some changes since its arrival.

Abbas says the entire menu was revamped, and the name was changed last fall from Brome Burgers and Shakes to Brome Modern Eatery — including the addition of a juice bar called Balence. That's the concept that's arriving this weekend in Detroit.

"With having such a large focus on the salads and fresh juices, 'Burgers and Shakes' wasn’t too fitting of a name," Abbas says. "It gives us more freedom in terms of evolution of the menu. It’s a constantly evolving piece of the restaurant."

Saturday's grand opening includes a 4-6 p.m. VIP reception and a public party from 6-8 p.m. Detroit Lions defensive end Ziggy Ansah will be on hand to greet patrons from 4-8 p.m., the Freep reports.
