May 21, 2018, 7:39 AM

A worker at Motor City Coney Island on East McNichols and Oakland shot wounded a customer on Sunday afternoon following an argument. The employees has been arrested.

It was the second straight week that an employee of a Detroit business stepped from behind bulletproof glass to shoot a customer following an argument, police said, according to George Hunter of The Detroit News.

“I want to send a message to some of these businesses,” police Chief James Craig said Sunday. “I’m still getting information, but from what I can tell, this latest shooting really concerns me, coming off a similar incident last week. This will get the full attention of law enforcement.”

The latest incident happened between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday, after the customer and employee exchanged heated words, Deputy Chief Todd Bettison tells the paper.

“Preliminarily, we believe the customer went into the eatery and there was a dispute with the employee,” Bettison said.

Eventually, the worker followed the customer to the rear of the restaurant and opened fire near the dumpster, striking him in the leg, the News reports. He was in critical condition at Ford Hospital.

A week ago, an employee of a Citgo gas station on West McNichols and Southfield was accused of fatally shooting customer, Derek Leon Roberts, 34, of Detroit.
