A 34-year-old man who was taking children to school Wednesday morning in a minivan was fatally shot on Detroit's east side in an ambush by two gunmen clad in black, Shawn Ley of WDIV reports.
Two children inside the vehicle were wounded. A 10-year-old girl was shot in the shoulder and a boy, 14, was hit with bullet fragments in the face, WDIV reports. One source says the boy might have actually been hit with glass, rather than bullet fragments. A 12-year-old boy in the minivan was not hurt.
The incident happened near Sanford Avenue and Conner Street on Detroit's east side.
Police tell WDIV that the suspects were hiding in a vacant home directly across the street from the victim's home before they came out shooting.
The slain man was idenfied as Troy Sanford.
No arrests have been made and the motive is unclear.
