Urban Ramen, a Los Angeles-based noodle shop, has opened at 4206 Woodward Avenue in Detroit's Midtown, Metro Times reports.

The restaurant launched with a soft opening on Wednesday. The official grand opening is July 2.

Owner Kohei Robert, who opened his L.A. shop around four years ago, tells Tom Perkins of Metro Times that he pursued a Detroit location after visiting friends here and digging the people, industry, and seeing how downtown is rebounding.

The restaurant will make all its noodles fresh.
