Michael Moore with Stephen Colbert.

Michigan's Michael Moore on Thursday appeared on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert to talk about his new film, "Fahrenheit 11/9," coming Sept. 21. The 11/9 is a reference to the day after Donald Trump was elected president, and is a play on the title of his 2004 film, "Fahrenheit 9/11."

"This about how the hell we got in this situation and how we’re going to get out of it," Moore says of the Trump election.

When pressed about details of the film, Moore only said it's in the final editing stage and he didn't want to reveal too much.

Both Moore and Colbert are not fans of Trump, to understate it vastly. Colbert hammers the president during his monologue nightly.

Moore's 2004 documentary examined the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the U.S. and the presidency of George W. Bush.
