The Internet opens endless opportunities for shameful behavior. In this case, Demetrius Barry was sentenced Thursday in Oakland County Circuit Court to six days in jail for convincing a Troy woman with Downs Syndrome to send him nude pictures online, Hilary Golston of Fox 2 reports.
Dawn and Mark Hayes say their daughter functions intellectually and emotionally below her 20-year-old age level.
"She doesn't understand why somebody would take advantage of her like this and it's really got her spirits down. She loves the social media friends she has . . . but at this point, doesn't know who [she] can trust and why would somebody do this," the father says.
"Instead of her being sunshine, we have to pick her up right now. It's been hard to watch and very difficult."
