Joe Jimenez, the Tigers' only All-Star, made only a very brief appearance in Tuesday's American League victory in Washington, but he did well.

With two outs and a man on first in the fourth inning, he was summoned to the mound to face San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford.

Jimenez, 23, struck out Crawford looking with an 84 m.p.h. to close the inning and preserve the American League's 2-1 lead, Marlowe Alter of the Detroit Free Press reports. The American League won 8-6.

Ex-Tiger Max Scherzer of the Nationals started the game and went two innings, giving up a homer to Yankee Aaron Judge and striking out four batters.

Ex-Tiger J.D. Martinez, who plays for Boston, batted fifth as the DH for the AL, singling and striking out.
