Just recently Andiamo Trattoria in downtown Royal Oak closed, citing competition from Detroit and Ferndale and the closing of a parking lot. Now comes two more restaurant closings.
Pending final approval from the city commission, Cantina Diablos and Red Fox English Pub -- which are stacked on top of each other at the corner of Main and 11 Mile Road -- will be transformed into the dual-concept Diamond's Steak and Seafood/Pinky's from Howell restaurateur Adam Merkel, reports Mark Kurlyandchik and Robert Allen of the Detroit Free Press.

The Freep says the restaurants' owners submitted a new plan of operation to the city proposing to close their current concepts and do business as Diamond's and Pinky's with Merkel as a 40-percent owner of the business and operating partner.
