Ibraheem Musaibli, 28, a Dearborn native, who is believed to have been a fighter for ISIS, has been captured by coalition-backed forces in northern Syria, The New York Times reports.

Another detainee identified him as a member of ISIS. Musaibli was transferred to a holding facility, and authorities plan to return him to  the U.S. for prosecution, along with an Indiana woman whose husband was an Islamic State member and who has also been detained.

Musaibli was captured by the Syrian Democratic Forces this month while trying to escape the Middle Euphrates River Valley, where the American-backed militia has been working to root out one of the last pockets of Islamic State control.

Musaibli was known to law enforcement officials.

His younger brother tells the Times he dropped out of high school to help his father run a perfume store. He married, had a son and eventually moved to Yemen. Authorities believe he went to Syria in 2015.
