It was a big deal when the Moroun family, owners of the Michigan Central Depot in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood, finally started improving the rotting building by installing new windows.
Now, less than three years after installing more than 1,000 windows, the new owner, Ford Motor Co., plans to replace them with ones that are historically appropriate, The Detroit News reports.
"Our plan is to restore the building to its historical status ... we think the windows are not historically correct," says Dawn Booker, spokeswoman for Ford Land Development Co.
The host of "Stateside," a Michigan Radio public affairs program, tweets this reaction:.
Glad to hear @Ford is fixing that sloppy Maroun mistake. But let's hope they donate those more than 1000 replacement windows to a good cause. (Habitat for Humanity?) It would be a huge shame if they're just scrapped. https://t.co/3R5Z1BF1dI
