It's simply a wish list, but a comprehensive one.

The Corktown Neighborhood Advisory Council wants its new neighbor, the Ford Motor Co., to consider the needs of the community and open its pocket book.

The group of local residents selected to work with Ford to make sure developments surrounding Ford's purchase of the old Michigan Central Station works for all, shared an impact list Monday night.

The impact report, which comes with a series of asks for Ford, requests $15 million going to the City of Detroit for neighborhood development, affordable housing, education and workforce training, and $24 million in Impacted Neighborhood funds, writes Allie Gross of the Detroit Free Press.

Among other things, the funds requested by the Neighborhood Advisory Council would go toward:

  • A rent subsidy for people who have been renters in the Impact Zone prior to the announcement of the Ford project for a 5-year period
  • A program to subsidize property tax payments for longtime owner-occupied homes
  • A single-family home repair grant program
  • Improvements to Stanton Park in Hubbard Richard in the amount of $200,000
  • A scholarship program for Impact Zone students and adults for advanced technical school education and college
