Now that the forgettable Tigers season is gone, maybe -- just maybe -- Detroit fans can find some joy in other major league sports.
After losing the first seven games of the season, the Detroit Red Wings finally won Saturday night in Sunrise, Fla., defeating the Florida Panthers in overtime, 4-3.
“I’m aware it’s overtime,” Gustav Nyquist, who scored the winning goal, tells The Detroit News. “But it felt good to score there, for sure. To get that first one out of the way, hopefully we can build off this one.”
Then there's the Detroit Pistons, who are 2-0.
They beat the Chicago Bulls Saturday night in Chicago 118-116, thanks to Blake Griffin, who had 33 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.
