Pot Becomes Legal in Michigan Dec. 6

Smoking weed in Michigan will be legal in three weeks.

Voters on Nov. 6 passed Proproal 1, which lets people 21 years and older light up.

Fred Woodhams of the Secretary of State office in Lansing says the State Board of Canvassers will meet Monday, Nov. 26 so the law can take effect Dec. 6.

But marijuana won’t be commercially available for sale until probably early 2020, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The law lets people to purchase, possess and use marijuana and marijuana-infused edibles and grow up to 12 marijuana plants for personal consumption. Municipalties can choose to ban or restrict sales locally.
