The Guardian Building and Wayne County Treasurer's office were bomb threat targets Thursday afternoon, although both were quickly given the all-clear. At the same time, multiple media sources report, similar threats were arriving at government buildings, banks, libraries, schools media outlets and other businesses around the country.

In Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor and Grosse Pointe Shores received threats, The Detroit News reports.

Detroit Police Department spokesman Dontae Freeman said the threats were emailed and asked that $20,000 ransom be paid in Bitcoin, an electronic currency. Employees were allowed back after about half an hour, he said.
