Fox 2's M.L. Elrick confronts Councilwoman Mary Sheffield.

Back in May, Detroit City Council President Pro Tem Mary Sheffield claims she was disrespected by a police officer who stopped her in her city-issued car for going 63 mph in a 35 mph zone in Hamtramck.

When the officer told her she was speeding, Sheffield told him she was a "city official" on city business, according to a police video obtained by M.L. Elrick of Fox 2.

When the officer goes to his car and returns with a ticket, Sheffield continues to push the story that she is on city business.

"As an elected official who mentioned that I'm on official duties and I'm trying to head somewhere, I find it highly, uh, direspectful," she tells the officer.

Now, when Elrick presses her on what type of city business she was on in Hamtramck back in May, she says: "I was between meetings."

She then insists: "So, that officer was quite disrespectful. He was very dispreactful. I don't need to go into detail."

But the video shows the the officer being nothing but respectful.

In the end, Sheffield tells Elrick:

"And so, again, when I was pulled over, for the ticket, I paid it, and I took full responsibility, like every responsibly citizen in Detroit would do. And that's what happened."

The ticket was $155.
