Deadline Detroit is seeking a digital media intern to share and contribute newsworthy content to our various social media channels. This is a competitive, hands-on position that includes compensation.
Deadline Detroit is a leading online news site that aggregates the best stories from local, national and international media. It also produces original reporting, investigative journalism and provides commentary from top-rate local journalists about Metro Detroit. Our offices are located in downtown Detroit.
In this role, interns will learn social media best practices, search engine optimization, and multimedia skills to help them succeed in the world of digital media. Within weeks, they’ll be putting that knowledge to work, teasing stories on Facebook and Twitter, taking photos for Instagram, and exercising their news judgment as an integral member of our small team. Conversational writing skills and an interest in current local events are a must. Story ideas and journalism skills are a bonus, and the position can include bylines pending experience.
Applicants must have completed a minimum of two years of collegiate coursework in journalism or a related field.
