A small state park at the eastern end of the Detroit River Walk will soon get a makeover.

You may know William G. Milliken State Park for its picnic area, harbor and lighthouse. But the giant hill on the west side of the park is also part of the 31-acre parcel. Each redsesign idea aims to activate that area.

Detroit-based SmithGroup is the designer on the project. The firm has also been working on the plan to extend the riverwalk from to the Ambassador Bridge to the MacArthur Bridge at Belle Isle, according to Crain's. Work on the Milliken project could start as soon as this fall.
