Road rage is the suspected motive behind the fatal drive-by shooting of a 3-year-old boy last week on the Southfield Freeway, Deadline Detroit has learned.

The suspect, 23, whose name was not immediately released, turned himself in on Wednesday afternoon, Michigan State Police said.

The shooting happened Jan. 24 around 7:05 p.m. on the Southfield Freeway near Joy Road.

The suspect, driving a silver Mercedes Benz, may have been cut off by a driver in a Dodge SUV with the three-year-old boy inside, and opened fire in an act of revenge, Deadline Detroit has learned. The boy, Christian Miller, who was in the backseat, was hit by a bullet and later died at Children's Hospital.

The boy was being driven by his Godmother to see Sesame Street at the Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit. The Godmother's three-year-old son was also in the car, but was not hurt.
