Dave Kwiatkowski of the Detroit Optimist Society has made his mark in the Detroit restaurant scene. His businesses includes the Sugar House bar, Wright & Co., The Peterboro, Honest John's and Bad Luck Bar.

Now, comes the latest entry: He paid the county $110,000 for a building in southwest Detroit on Michigan Avenue, west of I-96, that he plans to turn into a Korean bar and chef's-choice sushi counter, reports Annalise Frank of Crain's Detroit Business. Plans include an $800,000 overhaul and expansion of the two-story building.

The unnamed restaurant, projected to open in 2020 between 29th and 30th streets, will serve small plates and dishes such as Korean bowls, gimbap (fillings rolled in rice and nori) and raw clams and oysters.
