A pro-Trump group of build-the-wall conservatives went to the media after the Detroit Foundation Hotel revoked a group discount for 23 rooms, tied to the group's "We Build the Wall" event this week at Cobo Center.

"They didn't want us there because we're Trump supporters and conservatives," spokeswoman Jennifer Lawrence told the Free Press.

The hotel's management re-extended the discount offer, saying the revocation was "unauthorized," but provided no other detail.

We Build the Wall is a private group led by Florida resident and Iraq war veteran Brian Kolfage, who is raising money to build a border wall with Mexico, although it's unclear how the group plans to accomplish this. A GoFundMe has raised approximately $20 million. On the Eventbrite page for Thursday's event at Cobo, the group states:

We Build The Wall, Inc's highly experienced team is highly competent and will complete significant segments of the wall in less time, and for far less money, than the federal government, while meeting or exceeding all required regulatory, engineering, and environmental specifications.

The local gathering originally was scheduled at a church in Warren, but was relocated to Cobo to accommodate the expected large crowd. The event promises appearances by former Trump campaign manager Steve Bannon, and other conservative media stars, including former Sheriff David Clarke, former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and others.
