March 19, 2019, 6:29 AM

Want half-off pizza from an upcoming Corktown restaurant? Visit Grandma Bob's, 2135 Michgan Ave., before too many dozen other people Wednesday, Friday or Sunday -- or all three days if you're a greedy glutton without shame.

These will bake Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, starting at 4 p.m. each day.

Before Detroit bar and restaurant entrepreneur Dave Kwiatkowski and two family members launch the restaurant for real, they invite pizza fans (who isn't?) to try limited amounts of the round pies as a kind of staff rehearsal and business promotion. Here's the schedule, via Eater Detroit editor Brenna Houck:

  • March 20: 50 pizzas, starting at 4 p.m.
  • March 22: 100 pizzas, starting at 4 p.m. again
  • March 24: 150 pizzas at that time

No official opening date is announced.

Kwiatkowski, who turned 42 last week, is launching the pizzeria with a brother, John, and their mother, Gail Kaye. They originally planned to name it White Star Pizza.

Kaye ran Detroit Artifactry at the same location until mid-December 2017, selling vintage items, Detroit memorabilia, jewelry and other funky stuff.
