Sterling Heights has been panned for spending $170,000 to erect that curious golden ring sculpture off M-59, but its investment seems to be paying off.

First, think of how much you've used, heard, or read the words "Sterling Heights" since the sculpture appeared in January. City officials said the point was to re-brand the city as more than just "another suburb" and the "butt hole" certainly has. Then consider the advertising guys who've made a series of videos poking fun at the BH, and are now leveraging their success to sell 'Golden butthole' merch to aid colon cancer research.

And now, a local pie shop is luring customers and media coverage with its own spin on the circle. Achatz Handmade Pie Co. has fashioned a "golden butthole" cookie — yes, a butthole you will actually want to eat.

The elegant cookie hits shelves this morning at the store's Shelby Township location, where a radio station will be on hand to help promote.

Eat your heart (or insert other organ) out, haters!
