Chinatown in Detroit's Cass Corridor was once thriving. Then, like some other commercial areas of the city, it died. Now, signs of a comeback arise.
Detroit Public TV posts a seven-minute preview of the hour-long documentary, "The Last Days of Chinatown," by fillmmaker Nicole Macdonald, who lived in Chinatown and talks about her prohect. The film, to be shown at 9 p.m. Thursday on the channel, premiered at the Freep Press Film Festival last year.
The area was once home to Appalachians, Chinese, drugs and prostitutes. Developments and restaurants pop up now.
