Dine-and-dash is a crime, not an amusing game.

The Detroit Police Department hardly needs more bad publicity, but here it comes.

A Detroit cop is among two people charged with misdemeanors in Macomb County for skipping out on a $530 bill on Mother's Day at Sagano Japanese Steakhouse in Warren, Jessica Dupnack of Fox 2 reports.

The station posted surveillance video of the group skipping out on the bill, which helped police track down the culprits. After the story, a woman claiming to be friends of the party came by to pay. It ended up it was the officer herself who was there at the dinner, Fox reports.

"We don't get this very often, I can't remember the last time we had a dine and dash and I certainly can't one that was $500," said Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith.
