The FBI's wide probe into public corruption in Macomb County has snared a allegedly crooked attorney.
An indictment unsealed Tuesday charges Jay Schwartz, 53, of Northville, with teaming with trash titan Chuck Rizzo to bribe a Macomb politician.
Schwartz served as Rizzo's business lawyer and allegedly bribed convicted Clinton Township Trustee Dean Reynolds with cash and free legal services and helped conceal the bribes, Robert Snell of The Detroit News reports.
The bribery conspiracy ran from 2014-16 when Rizzo was trying to secure and maintain an $18 million trash contract in Clinton.
"There is a lot more to this case than what is alleged in the indictment," Schwartz's lawyer Gerald Gleeson wrote in an email to The News. "We look forward to the opportunity to present all of the facts to a jury."
