Pure Michigan: Jackson Prison Tour Is So Good It's Criminal
The tour guide for the visit to Jackson Prison is Judy Gail Krasnow, who says she just wants to tell people stories about a famous Michighan place.
"I want to raise the spirit of Jackson's prison past," she told Ellen Creager of he Free Press. "It's not an embarrassment. It's history."
The tour lasts up to four hours and includes part of the prison that opened in 1838, the year after Michigan became a state. Prisoners then wore balls and chains, just like in the movies.
