Big Boy Plots Comeback with Menu Overhaul

Fans of Big Boy fondly recall its double burger and Slim Jim, now harder to find as the Warren-based restaurant chain continues to shrink. 

It's down from around 150 locations in 2009 (23 company-owned) to 75 now, 14 of which are company-owned, Annalise Frank writes in Crain's Detroit Business.

Now new investors who bought the group last fall, hope to grow to 100 restaurants in two years and reach the 200 mark in five to seven years, CEO and co-owner David Crawford says. 

The new owners plan a food overhaul, a more cost-effective expansion process and better marketing.
