"Dave and Chuck the Freak" Show Expected to Resurface in Detroit Market

Speculation is heating up about where the "Dave and Chuck the Freak" radio show will end up after the popular duo abruptly departed last month from 89X.

Bill Shea of Crain's Detroit's Business writes that radio insiders are speculating that they will remain the Detroit market.

Shea write:

89X's management publicly acknowledged that another station offered the hosts a better deal than its owner, Toronto-based Bell Media Radio, was willing to match.

"We're sad to lose them, but we wish them well. It's business. We'll grow something new again," said Eric Proksch, vice president and general manager for Bell Media Radio, which has a sales office in Bingham Farms.

Other than to say the hosts didn't disclose to him what station they were going to, Proksch declined to discuss any details.

The David and Chuck Freak Show was consistently first or second in the audience of men 18-34, Shea writes.
