Crain's Detroit Business compiled a list of some well-known local people who died this year, including zany weatherman Sonny Eliot, legendary boxing trainer Emanuel Steward, Gus Anton, owner of the former New Hellas eatery in Greektown, Ben Burns, the former executive editor of the Detroit News and ex-Lions star Alex Karras.
