Grosse Pointe Shores to Secede from Wayne County?

The Grosse Pointe Shores City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to put an advisory question  on the August primary ballot that asks whether the Shores should leave Wayne County and join Macomb County.

The vote in non-binding. The voters' decision will give council members guidance on whether to pursue the idea of secession.

Grosse Pointe Shores currently is split between the two counties. A study has shown the move would save residents money and potentially improve county services.
