Harry Arnold takes his drone cam to the east side of 7 Mile and Woodward, where it surveys the new Perfecting Church that is under construction at the edge of a neighborhood filled with burned-out homes and vacant space. On the west side of Woodward is Palmer Park and the mansions of Palmer Woods.
The Perfecting Church’s future home is a 5,000-seat mega-church, plus a 500-seat wedding chapel, meeting rooms that can seat 1,000 people, a 1000-space parking garage, a baptism pool large enough to accommodate a whole family, classrooms, administrative offices, a bookstore and a kitchen.
The church is headed by Pastor Marvin Winans, a member of the singing Winans' family and a chart-topping gospel singer.
