With the Aug. 6 mayoral primary only five months away, ex-Detroit Medical Center CEO Mike Duggan has a commanding lead in the polls, according to WDIV.
WDIV reports that the poll by Mitchell Research has Duggan with 38 percent of the vote, more than twice that of challenger Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon, who had 17 percent. Mayor Dave Bing, who has yet to indicate whether he'll run for re-election, had 8 percent.
The other candidates, including former Detroit corporation counsel Krystal Crittendon and Lisa Howze, have minimal support, according to the poll. Specifically, Crittendon had 6 percent and Howze 4 percent.
The poll indicated that if Bing dropped out, the overwhelming number of his supporters would vote for Duggan.
In a press released linked to on WDIV, pollster Steve Mitchell says: “Mayor Dave Bing is in great peril as a candidate for re-election. His chances of being re-elected are almost non-existent.".
