Downtown Moosejaw, a Pop-Up Store, Still Hanging On

March 06, 2013, 12:10 PM

Initially, Moosejaw, an upscale outdoor outfitter, opened a pop-up store this past Christmas season on Woodward in downtown Detroit with the thought of staying open until Dec. 22.

Then the store said it would stay open until at least the end of February.

Now we're being told the store plans to stay open through at least the end of April.

Still no word as to whether it will become a permanent fixture on Woodward.

But for now, the doors are still wide open. Winter clothes are on clearance and spring t-shirts are being unpacked.

They say they're playing it by ear.

“January, February, and March are hard times for retail in general,” says Mike Kardes, the General Manager of the Birmingham and Detroit locations. “We’re still waiting to see how everything goes.”
