Never hurts to ask, a local digital advertising creative director believes. So Iain Lanivich raised his hand when a well-known speaker invited questions after his social media presentation at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Conference in Austin.

The guest was Shaquille O'Neal. "My wife is a huge fan," Lanivich says under a video he posted Monday. "So, sitting front-row at his SXSW interview, I had to ask him if he could give her a call."
When the NBA star smiled and said sure, the Campbell Ewald exec bounded on stage, hit Margaret Lanivich's number in Bloomfield Hills and handed over his phone as spectators cheered.

"Thank you Shaq. You're a great man," Iain Lanivich says in his video description.
His mother-in-law, Judi Leppek of Warren, teases the creative director Tuesday at his Facebook page:
"Iain, honey, here is my first list of people I'd like to talk to: Harry Connick, Jr.; Ellen; Pierce Brosnan, Wynton Marsalis; Matt Damon; Matt Bomer; Matthew McConaughey; and Denzel Washington."
