The star pitcher, who signed a seven year contract extension Friday, has more than 334,500 followers -- gaining more than 1,500 since Graham wrote his article.
More than 8,600 of Verlander's followers retweeted the news he posted Friday afternoon: "I love this city & the fans - couldn't be more excited to spend my career here! We're going to bring a World Series to Detroit!!!"
