Who's Going to Protect Allen Park After It Eliminates Cops and Fire Fighters?

Allen Park City Council members voted 6-1 Tuesday night to approve the new budget. 

Not included in that budget are funds for police officers and fire fighters.

The administration now has to figure out how they will handle the elimination. The budget goes into effect July 1.

City officials have asked neighboring communities to come to their aid. But so far there have been no takers. Those cities have financial problems of their own, though perhaps not as dire as Allen Park's.

Allen Park faces a $4.2M deficit. Much of the red ink came from a bond sale for a failed movie studio project. Voters also rejected a millage increase.
