Warren Man Battles for Christmas Display

Summer is almost here, but Warren resident John Satawa, 75, is thinking Christmas.

His attorney is slated to argue today before the U.S. Court of Appeals, hoping to clear the way so Satawa can once again put up his nativity scene that was banned after 63 consecutive years on display in Warren at Mound and Chicago Roads, according to the Macomb Daily.

Some complained about the display and a Detroit federal judge in 2009 ruled against it, saying it created a traffic safety hazard. Satawa says it's about religion. A.L.
